The Process
Four steps from idea to finished piece.
No Revisions
The core of how Scratch works: no revision rounds, no price negotiations, and no ongoing back-and-forth after your request. The artist can ask one clarifying question before accepting, but once they say yes, they get to create without waiting on approvals. The result is art from their natural creative process, with less friction slowing things down.
Pricing
How pricing works.
Each artist sets two prices on their profile: a minimum and a recommended price. The minimum is the lowest offer they'll accept. The recommended price reflects what they typically charge for a standard piece.
Before you make an offer, check out the artist's profile and past works. Every piece is a real commission, so you'll see exactly what they deliver at different price points.
By default, finished requests may appear on Scratch and the artist's profile, so future clients can see what the artist makes. If the artist allows private requests, you can choose to keep the delivered art visible only to you and the artist.
For more complex requests (extra characters, detailed backgrounds, other additions), consider offering above the recommended price. Your offer signals the scope of what you're looking for.
Payments
No charge until the artist accepts.
Your card is saved when you send a request, but nothing is charged yet. You can cancel before the artist accepts, and if they decline or don't respond, the request simply closes.
Once the artist accepts, your card is charged and the delivery window starts. If they don't deliver by the platform deadline, you're refunded in full.

After accepting, artists deliver within this window.

If either deadline passes, you get every cent back.
Artists can set their own estimated delivery times, but these are the hard platform deadlines. You can always check your request status on your dashboard.
