500 Registered Artists!! + Art Contest

Holy smokes, what'd you say?? 500 artists have now registered on Scratch?? Sounds like a pretty good reason to finally throw a proper launch party :)

Of course, the launch party has to be an art contest right?

Introducing Scratch's first art contest!! We are inviting everyone to draw our two mascots Kit and Kat!

Meet your subjects

Scratch's first art contest is all about Kit and Kat. Kit is the cat, Kat is the human, and both of them should appear in your entry.

Everything else is up to you. Redesign their wardrobes, drop them into a space opera, or give them a quiet afternoon at a cute cafe.

Cute, dramatic, strange, cozy, extremely serious, completely unserious. Take them wherever your brain goes!

The schedule

Submissions are open from August 26 through October 25, 2026. That gives you almost 2 months to make something you're happy with.

After submissions close, Scratch's 20 Founding Artists will vote for the Grand Prize Winner and 2 Runners-Up. Scratch staff will also choose up to 7 Honorable Mentions.

Prizes

One artist will receive:

• $150 USD
• A Scratch Launch Celebration Grand Prize profile badge
• A dedicated feature across Scratch's social accounts

🎖️ 2 Runners-Up

Each artist will receive:

• $50 USD
• A Scratch Launch Celebration Runner-Up profile badge
• A dedicated feature across Scratch's social accounts

🎗️ Up to 7 Honorable Mentions

Each artist will receive:

• A Scratch Launch Celebration Honorable Mention profile badge
• A spot in a group feature across Scratch's social accounts

5% platform fees during the contest

We're pairing the contest with a 2-month fee promotion. From August 26 through October 25, Scratch's standard platform fee drops from 10% to 5%.

And anyone who submits an entry will get an additional month of the promotion! Going until November^^

A $100 request will put $95 into the artist's Earnings, and the client will still pay the listed $100. Requests sent while the promotion is active keep the 5% rate, even when they're accepted later. Any existing rate below 5% stays lower.
